Course Description

In this course the fundamentals of esthetic and restorative materials such as bonding, composites, ceramics, luting resins and bleaching materials will be discussed thoroughly.
In addition to the above-mentioned topics, esthetic gingival surgery with lasers and crown lengthening procedures will be lectured upon.
Occlusion and its related problems, bite rising and occlusal adjustments will be another interesting topic to be covered also.
Interdisciplinary treatment plans and the role of orthodontics and periodontal treatments are important factors to be considered in our practice.
Of course, several sessions will be focused on smile design and aesthetic procedures like porcelain laminates, composite veneers & ceramic crowns.
Restoring endodontically treated teeth is one of the challenges of a dentist and proper management of the remaining tooth structure is of paramount importance to the wellness of the patient.
And last but not least it all comes down to patient acceptance and different aspects of office management from financial point of view to humane treatment of our patients. In this session the importance and techniques of dental photography will be lectured upon.

Course Aim & Objectives

Understanding the basics of restorative dental materials, smile design and clinical aspects of them.
Being able to diagnose esthetic and restorative problems and design a proper treatment plan for them.
Have the knowledge for procedures like bonded ceramic restorations Like bonded ceramic and composite restorations.
Being able to incorporate interdisciplinary procedures in their treatment plans.
Being able to treat an endodontically treated tooth according to its remaining tissue with proper longevity.
To be able to differentiate and diagnose the causes of discolored teeth and treat it accordingly; bleaching, veneers or crowns.
Having the proper communication skills and being able to record the procedures accordingly with digital photography.
Having the knowledge of composites and their indications and procedures in esthetic dentistry.
To be able to understand and apply a basic knowledge of lasers and their applications in dentistry.

Dr. Farokh Assefzadeh

DDS, MS in Restorative & Esthetic Dentistry

Dr. Assefzadeh received his DDS and MS in Restorative and Esthetic dentistry from Tehran University and has 25 years of experience practicing cosmetic dentistry.

Past Chairman of Restorative Dept., Shahid Dental School and has won three national research awards. He is the author of three books in Restorative Dentistry and is a very skilled and passionate lecturer and is the Instructor of International Center for Dental Education (Ivoclar Vivadent) in Iran. He was the chairman of the 9th Congress of Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry in 2008.

Nahal Sanavandi

Dentist

Dr. Nahal Sanavandi is the co-founder and Director of EverSmiles, graduated from University of Shahid Beheshti in Tehran, Iran in 1993. She has had her full-time practice, solely dedicated to esthetic and cosmetic dentistry and digital dentistry(CAD CAM) for 25 years in Tehran.

She has received a dental management certificate from the University of Toronto and is well-known as an office management lecturer who has delivered lectures in various symposiums and congresses about dental office management.

Dr. Ebrahim Aminsalehi

DDS, MS in Operative & Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Ebrahim Aminsalehi graduated from Shahid Beheshti Dental School in 1991 and completed a speciality program in restorative dentistry in 1995. He was an assistant professor of the university since 1995 and is proud to have taught many dentists in Iran while being a member of the Association of Iranian Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry. He has given more than a hundred lectures at various dental conferences and written dental articles in the field of restorative and cosmetic dentistry in prestigious scientific journals.

His titles in Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry are as follows:

Chairman of the Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Chairman of the Eleventh Congress of the Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Executive Secretary of the 9th Congress of the Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative. Dentistry
Scientific secretary of the 6th Congress of the Iranian Association of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry.

Also he has held many courses in the field of ceramic and composite restorations as executive manager and trainer. Now he is working in his private office in Toronto.

Dr. Shahbaz Nasser Mostofi

DDS-MS Prosthodontist

Dr. Mostofi received his dental degree (DDS) from Shahid Beheshti University, Faculty of Dentistry in Tehran, Iran in 1992. After graduation, he got admitted to the University of Tehran to pursue his studies in Masters of Prosthodontics. After being graduated in 2000, he came top on the Board Exam of his year. Since then and for 22 years now, his practice has been focused on Implant Prosthodontics. Dr. Mostofi is a member and the secretary of the Iranian Association of Implantology Board of Directors.

His great passion, besides his practice, is teaching, researching and learning new things. To fulfill this desire, he has been a faculty member for 27 years.

He is now a Faculty Member, as well as a Member of Research Council of Dentistry Faculty of Azad University and also a member of the Research Centre’s Founding Board for dental materials in Azad University.

Dr. Mostofi has three registered patents in regards to dental implants and has worked on over 60 research projects related to Implant prosthodontics. He also has numerous published articles focused on dental implants and is continuously invited to give lectures focused on his area of expertise.

Dr. Maziar Shahzad Dowlatshahi

DDS. Master in Periodontology

Dr Dolatshahi was an Assistant Professor and the head of research department of Periodontology at Jundishapur Dental School,Ahwaz,Iran. His Private Practice is Limited to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, more than 15000 Implant Placement.

He is an Dentalxp expert and an MNEC lecturer. He has had many Lectures and presentations in Iranian and International Congresses and Symposiums in UAE, South Korea, Romania and Switzerland.He was also an Instructor in many Hands-on training courses; Iran, UAE, Switzerland and South Korea. He recently published a book called Decision making in Periodontics.

His Innovations:

Dr. Ali Shakib

Dr. Ali Shakib received his DDS and MS in restorative and esthetic dentistry from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. Having the experience of 23 years in Esthetic dentistry, He is a former assistant professor in Shahed dental school , Tehran - Iran, department of restorative and esthetic dentistry for 10 years.

At his private practice in Toronto, Brookdale Dentistry, he is known for esthetic and cosmetic dentistry. He passed all Canadian dental equivalency exams with high scores and is one of the instructors for EverSmiles’ Clinical Skills training course and provides lectures on Esthetic and Cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Ramin Azghandi

DDS, PA, Periodontics & Implants Specialist

Dr. Ramin Azghandi started his higher education at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1991.

He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL in 1995. He then completed a 3 year surgical residency program in Periodontology & Implantology at Boston University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. He subsequently moved to greater Washington DC area in 1998 and has practiced in Maryland and Virginia ever since.

Dr. Azghandi's practice has been recognized as one of the most cutting edge implant and periodontal centers in greater Washington DC where he performs a full spectrum of surgical/non-surgical procedures utlizing the most advanced technologies including 3D imaging, Intra-oral scanning, Guided Surgeries, lasers and Piezo Surgical units.

He is a firm believer in continuing education and has attended numerous advanced courses offered by internationally renowned clinicians/institutes including Pankey & Spear. He has been a Faculty Club Leader at Spear Education since 2012.

He has also served the dental community as a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Maryland Dental School from 1999-2004. He continues his role as an educator by providing continuing education courses for dentists and hygienists nationally and internationally.
Dr. Azghandi is a past president of Washington Iranian Dental Society.

Dr. Hossein Arbabzadeh

DDS-MS Orthodontist

Dr. Arbabzadeh is also the co-founder and an executive director of Eversmiles. He graduated as a DDS in 1990 from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran. In 1996, he attended Mashhad university where he obtained his Masters in Orthodontics. Dr. Arbabzadeh has been practicing Orthodontics for 23 years in Iran. He was exclusively practicing orthodontics even when he was a general practitioner which makes him well informed about the challenges general practitioners face when they practice orthodontics along with their general dental practice. Dr. Arbabzadeh has treated more than 6,000 orthodontic cases in his private practice.

This background enabled Dr. Arbabzadeh to design a course which would assist GPs to practice orthodontic more confidently.

He is a member of the board Iranian orthodontics association and recently he has been the President of 16th Annual Conventions Iranian association of Orthodontists.

He is a WFO member and had made numerous Lectures and presentations in international and Local congresses and symposiums.

Main interests in Orthodontics are Digital Orthodontics and clear aligners and combination therapy of fixed and clear orthodontics for more complex cases.
